Conference Keynote Speaker

Judy Murphy, RN, FACMI, FHIMSS, FAAN

Judy Murphy is Deputy National Coordinator for Programs & Policy at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT, Department of Health and Human Services in Washington D.C. Her informatics interests lie in system implementation methodologies, health IT project management, automated clinical documentation, and the use of technology to support evidence-based practice; she has published and lectured nationally and internationally on these topics. Judy has been on the Health IT Standards Committee since its inception in May 2009. On that committee, she co-chaired the Implementation Workgroup, and was a member of the Meaningful Use Workgroup. She has also served on the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) Board of Directors and the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Board of Directors. She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, the American College of Medical Informatics and HIMSS.

Conference Objectives

This conference is to inform the community about the critical issues and opportunities in health care and how they can be tackled and capitalized through health care service innovations and stakeholder engagement. The conference is designed for health care professionals, including researchers, practitioners, HIT vendors, and consumers.

  • Smart health and wellbeing technology
  • Globalization and sustainability of patient-centric HIT
  • Social networking for health enhancement
  • Hand-offs in health care

Paper Submission and Publication

  • Abstract submission deadline: June 15, 2013
  • Full papers submission deadline: August 1, 2013
  • Acceptance notification deadline: September 1, 2013

Full papers in English containing original research contents are solicited. The length of the paper should be between 10 and 20 pages (< 5000 words) in APA format. High quality papers will be selected for presentation and publication in the Transactions of the International Conference on Health Information Technology Advancement – 2013. Furthermore, top quality papers will be selected and published in a special issue of the International Journal of Healthcare Information Technology to appear in 2014.

Conference Registration Fee

Registration fee includes a copy of the conference Transactions, continental breakfast and lunch. Early registration fee by September 1, 2013 is $199 and $249 afterwards. Papers exceeding 12 pages limit will be subject to revisions.
